Game Summary

Heights Hook Anglers!

On a beautiful sunny day at "The Den," the Cliffside Heights faced off against the Lansdowne Launch Anglers—though not exactly at "The Den" due to ongoing school maintenance. Instead, the game was played at The Den's North Field, which, to put it kindly, is a dump. The mound was low and slants to the left, the park dimensions were awkward, but with no other options, the teams made do.

Nick Vescio took the mound for the Launch Anglers and pitched well, keeping Heights batters off-balance with a loopy curve ball. For the Heights, Luciano Perna started but struggled early, walking in a run in the bottom of the 1st. However, he settled in, mixing heat with a surprise eephus pitch that baffled the Anglers' lineup.

The game unraveled for Lansdowne in the top of the 5th. Cliffside's bats came alive, capitalizing on shaky defence—dropped balls, walks, and timely hits—to erupt for eight runs. The Anglers' pitching and fielding woes continued in the 6th and 7th, while the Heights stayed patient at the plate, peppering the field with singles and doubles. The result? A much-needed offensive explosion for Cliffside after a recent slump.

When the dust settled, the final score was 15-3 in favor of the Heights. A dominant win, even on a less-than-ideal field. Thanks for the game, boys.
