Game Summary

Heights Take the "W"

Two struggling teams faced off in a Sunday morning showdown at the "Den." Joseph R. took the mound for the Burbarians, but struggled with control, surrendering 5 early runs—mostly on walks.

Luciano Perna started for the Heights and ran into trouble in the bottom of the 1st. After a full-count re-pitch, Jerome P. launched a moonshot into the left-field bleachers, cutting the lead to 5-1. But Luciano Perna settled in, striking out three Birchmount batters—two whiffing wildly and one frozen as the ball slapped the tape with a satisfying slappity-slap sound!

The Heights' offence came alive thanks to Gino C., who crushed his first homer of the year and peppered the field with singles and a double. (That bat’s heating up just in time for the summer rush!) Reliever Marcus Belardi took over in the later innings, dealing sizzling heat and snapping off filthy breaking balls to fan three more Barbarians. He also raked at the plate, including a bases-clearing triple to seal the deal. Gino C. came in for some relief and closed things out for Cliffside. Make the fine 9-3 Cliffside!
