It was a battle of 0-2 teams as the Guildwood Cobra Kai travelled to the Hood to face the Cliffside Heights.
Amin and Luciano would start. Amin competed two innings of clean work before handing the ball over the Andreas the rest of the way. Luciano would go 5 scoreless before handing the ball over to Marcus Belardi the rest of the way. Both teams threatened throughout the game, but the pitchers wouldn’t break and we were tied 0-0 heading into the 7th.
Top of the 7th and with a man on 1st and one out, super sub Derrick hit a double to make it 2nd and 3rd, bringing Andreas to the plate. Andreas was able to take a 3-2 pitch up the middle for an RBI single, his fourth hit of the game, to finally put a run on the board and make it 1-0 Kai.
To no one’s surprise, the Heights bats wouldn’t go down without a fight in the bottom of the 7th as with one out, Gino singled, then Luciano doubled and just like that it was 2nd and 3rd with Marcus at the plate. After a battle, Andreas was able to get Marcus swinging for strike 3 to preserve the first win of the season for the Kai
Great tight battle that could’ve gone either way. Shout out to Derrick for helping out again. This guy can bat and field, as he robbed Luciano of a run scoring double in the 5th inning with a great grab in the field. Solid burby player.
