Game Summary

The Beach Dusters kicked off the 2025 season with a comfortable win against a familiar foe.

Powered by a five-run second inning, the Beach took down the Cliffside Heights 9-2 at Courcelette on Saturday, May 10.

Jack Cherry was an on-base merchant, and Kevin O'Brien and Chris Toman routinely cashed him in a strong all-around offensive effort for the Beach.

Cliffside's musical chairs showing on the mound was not as effective as the Dusters' 1-2 combo of Toman and O'Brien.

The Heights recycled through Luciano Perna, Gino Collura and ace Marcus Belardi (who didn't start due to injury), surrendering 12 hits in the loss.

Toman got the start, throwing three scoreless innings before the Heights got on the board in his final frame in the fourth, making it a 6-1 game.

Cliffiside then threatened with the bases loaded in the sixth, scoring another run off O'Brien, but that's all they could get before the Dusters added a pair in the bottom half of the frame.

For both teams, it was just great to get the first game of the season under their belts. And Cliffside will certainly be better in the games ahead with a healthier Belardi.

Also: The Heights unveiled surprise edition and veteran stud Art Stoner, who should be considered a force despite his long layoff from the league.

It was a great to see you Stoner - welcome back!
