The Hawks had one mission against the Kai on this fine Sunday morning. Win and 1st place would be theirs for the 2025 burby season.
Gerrard St would need to travel to Guildwood and get through Andreas, Nick and Herbs to make this happen. A tough assignment indeed!
Wayner would get the start for the Railhawks and was stellar through 2 innings giving up only a couple of singles. Andreas would start for the Kai and the crafty old vet looked sharp before Eagan went yard for a solo shot in the 3rd.
In the 4th, the Hawks ran a little choo choo train and loaded the bases for 2nd year player Klamott. Wayner would deposit his first TBL dinger over the right center fence and take the 4 ribbies with the salami.
Eagan would take over the hill in the 3rd and ran into a bit of trouble in the bottom of the 4th himself. A train of Kai would go single, single, double, double and get the score down to 5-3. But Junior would settle down and give up nothing more.
There was a ton of great defence in this one with plays made by both sides. Lots of hustle as well, with a huge shout out to Nick who seemed to be all over the field with some very nice plays.
Nick would finish on the hill for Guildwood and looked good despite giving up an RBI double to Osborne in the 6th. This was another team effort from the Hawks with every hitter getting on base at least twice and an extra base hit each.
Another fun game to be a part of. Great pitching, defence and some timely hitting. All wrapped up in an hour and 20 minutes.
