The Hawks travelled to the Den for a matchup with the Burbarians on Saturday. After a loss to the Anglers, Gerrard St was looking to show no mercy in this one. But they would have to get through Jerome, Muzafar, Hentley and Joe. No small task
Beauty day once again, but as with a few other parks, the Den is undergoing some renovations and this game would have to relocate to the narrower and deeper north side of the field.
Muzafar would start for Birchmount and Wayner for the Hawks. Klamott has been golden this year as the second option and in this game he would go 5 shutdown innings striking out 10 and only allowing 5 baserunners, giving Eagan a well deserved rest.
Muzafar would start for the Burbarians and ran into some trouble in the 3rd when the Hawks plated 5. Every Hawk player would get at least 2 hits, 2 walks and an RBI in this one. Eagan himself would go 5-7 with 4 ribbies and 2 walks breaking a bit of a batting slump for himself. Having Darren back was also quite helpful after missing the only game I can recall him not being in attendance for. Osborne is a major reason for any success the Hawks have!
Hentley would take over mound duties in the 6th for Birchmount and pitched 2 clean to give the Burbarians a chance to claw back. But ace Eagan would finish this off for Gerrard St and pitched 2 clean himself striking out another 4 batters
And that would be the story for this game. All 14 outs recorded by the Railhawks came via strikeout, from my understanding this has only been done once before in TBL history. The Hawks pitching can be deep and nasty, certainly a scary proposition for any team in the league.
