TORONTO BURBY LEAGUE

It was a great morning for some ball at the Hood for a big matchup between the Railhawks and Anglers.

The Angler bats were working early, with the first 4 hitters scoring thanks to back-to-back bombs from Chris Metzler and Vescio. The Anglers loaded the bases in the second all important non-Eagan inning, but could only get one across before Wayne got out of it.

Vescio had the start for the Anglers and was effectively wild, getting timely outs to keep the Hawks off the board despite some control issues.

The Anglers held the lead until the bottom of the 5th when some defensive miscues from the Anglers, paired with some great hawks ABs, led to a tie game.

In the bottom of the 6th, super-sub Derick put one over the right field fence to take a one lead into the 7th with Eagan cruising.

The Anglers were able to rally in the 7th, getting a clean single tied the game up. With the game tied and the bases juiced, Chris jumped on a fastball, taking it the other way for an opposite field triple and a 3 run lead.

The Hawks didn't go down easy in the 7th, loading the bases and pushing one across before a couple of fly balls got Vescio and the Anglers the win. A great game and a huge win for the Anglers as they establish themselves as a threat moving forward.
