who to watch out for in 2020

Who will make waves this season

Like with any pro sport it’s hard to put up big numbers on a consistent basis. Even the best players have down years or in the TBL’s case, have a shift in priorities. Here is a list of Guys that are most likely to ball out in 2020.

Premier

Marcus Belardi Cliffside Heights

Belardi seems like a safe choice given that he has won pitcher of the year 2 years in a row. But the Italian Stallion is missing a key piece of hardware that will keep him focused next year. 2019 saw him come oh so close to hoisting the Burby Cup. He was virtually lights out against the Dusters in the Championship game. He could almost taste victory. He’s hungry and is already working on his hitting in the offseason. Shall we hand him the League MVP right now?

Prediction 9-0 1.10 era 60 strikeouts

.320 BA,8 Homeruns.

Derek Young Roncesvalles Rockets

A blast from the past! Young is back from a 4 year hiatus in Europe. During that time he has kept a close eye on the TBL. The league remembers his sweet swing and lofty batting average. He never did win a championship so he too is starving for the Cup. The only question mark is his shoulder which he says he is currently rehabilitating. If he gets even a portion of his All Star ability back then it will be a fun summer in Roncesvalles.

Prediction 3-1 2.00 era 4 saves

.333 BA 22 RBI’s

Kevin MacDonald Beach Dusters

The rookie was a key ingredient in the Dusters magical 2019season. He flat out mashed and his mound presence gave the Beach a perfect 3 man rotation. The young buck however understands that this was not an easy task and he won’t be taking this season lightly. Look for him to dominate opposing batters as he really started to find his control at the end of last season.

Prediction - 4-1, 2.30 era,

.340 BA 6 Homeruns

KINGS

Mike Murphy Don Mills Blue Jays

A solid hitter who was virtually untouchable on the mound in 2019. Thing is it was only a sample size of what is to come. The 2nd year player is expected to absolutely dominate batters this year. His nasty slider and sneaky change up will earn him Pitcher of the Year.

Prediction

8-1 1.00 era 55 strikeouts

Lorne Williams Riverdale Spartans

Also known as the “Skullett”. This veteran will no longer be mistaken as a band member for the Killer Dwarves. His second half of  the 2019 season proved that he can be a baller in this league. His numbers were impressive as he hit for power and average. Riverdale is in desperate need of pop and Lorne will provide it.

Prediction

.377 avg. 6 Homers 26 RBI’s

Nic Macri Junction Cobra Kai

In his 2nd full season in the Kings Conference he put it all together. He almost doubled his slugging input from the previous year. Now that he’s fully entrenched in the TBL, his hunger for elite status and a taste of the Kings cup is legitimate. He’s also no slouch on the mound and he should improve upon his closer status for the Kai.

Prediction

.455 avg 6 homers 30 hits,30 RBI’s

2-1 3 saves 3.00 era
