What are TBL teams wishing for this Christmas?
PREMIER CONFERENCE
LESLIEVILLE BRICKIES and EAST ANNEX BLUES - The Gift of Presence
And by that we mean attendance. These talented teams could never get everybody on the field at the same time throughout the season. It cost them in the first round of the playoffs as there was no flow to their show. The Blues JR Bailey and The Brickies Matt Kowall will look to make Burby a priority in 2018.If they commit then they are legit.
BIRCHCLIFF BEARS and BEACH DUSTERS - Innings Eater
Both of these squads are multi talented on paper but the health of all the pitchers arms are in question. The injuries have made for some painful games to watch.
A nice solid middle reliever that can log tons of innings throughout the season is key to the health of these East End Giants.
CLIFFSIDE HEIGHTS - A Stud
Every other team in the Premier has that elite arm or bat. The Heights have valiantly grinded it out over the years and its about time they sign a stud. The team is currently Christmas shopping for one after their 2017 playoff collapse.
RONCESVALLES ROCKETS - A slice of Humble pie.
They have a ring. They have the talent. But does a franchise who claimed their first ever championship last year dare to rest on their laurels? The bats of Ronci only really came alive in the second half of the season. The Rockets can’t afford to ease into 2018.
CEDARBRAE STORM - The Gift of Steroids
The Storm finished at the bottom of the league when it comes to homeruns. They only had three, all of last regular season and that’s just not going to cut it in the Premier. Even with their crafty pitchers there will be games where they will have to mash. Fortunately for Cedarbrae all types of steroids are currently deemed legal in the TBL :)
KINGS CONFERENCE
AGINCOURT HITMEN - Gift of Luck
Two years in a row in the playoffs Agincourt were hit with unexpected injuries. Nick Leontas and his groin need to catch a break. There definitely is a feel of unfinished business with this squad. They keep threatening to retire but they know if they can just stay healthy going into the playoffs then all will be well again for these veterans of Burby.
VANHORNE VIPERS and RIVERDALE SPARTANS - Strike Thrower
Both of these teams had a bad case of the walks in 2017 Van Horne(151) Riverdale (129) Although the managers did a valiant job on the mound, they know if they are to have any success this year they will need a pitcher that does one thing. Throw strikes. Not balls. Surely there is a tosser under that tree?
DON VALLEY JAILBIRDS - a Stat Tracker.
Sadly this was the only team in the league that didn’t bother to compile stats. How exciting would it be! To see under the tree! A Pen! And multiple empty stat sheets! Just waiting to be filled out! Oh joy!
Seriously though. A stat tracker is a mandatory yet fun toy to have.
JUNCTION COBRA KAI - A Sports Psychologist.
This team has the arms. They definitely have the bats. And when it comes to the regular season they flat out mash! But in big games in the playoffs they are nowhere to be found. The word clutch needs to be second nature. So along with a yoga retreat to Bali the Junction may need the services of Dr. Billie Bucknerheimersteinovich.
BIRCHMOUNT BURBARIANS AND DON MILLS BLUEJAYS - A Golden Ladder
These middle of the pack teams need to climb to the top of the standings in 2018. They could use a Magical Golden Burby Ladder. Or they could both shore up there relief situation which right now is in dire straights. For The Burbarians Joe Resendes needs to get back to his 2016 Playoff MVP form and for the Blue Jays? They need anyone to compliment Gary Massey who logged the 2nd most innings in the league last year. (65)
REXDALE ROOSTERS - A Full Roster
Lots of presents are needed under this tree. It's not known how many ballers Rexdale has but the predicted total of 4 could become disastrous come the summer time.As proven by teams like the former East York Bulldogs, you will need at least 6 roosters in the Hen House in order to lay the Golden Burby egg....or something like that.
