UK BURBY IS NO JOKE

                   United Kingdom Burby Is Back!

The UK burby team managed by Rob Scotland had an uninspired first effort last year in it’s first and only game against the Eastern Block. As the Scottish royal cart of arms slogan says “Nemo Me Impune Lacessit” which means we will not be attacked with impunity.

Coach Scotland made it an offseason mission to assemble a prouder and more motivated squad for the inaugural Burby World Cup tournament. Calling upon the whole of an estimated population of 64 million in the UK, this formidable squad was found….

The Skip - Rob Scotland has a storied TBL career and is coming off arguably his finest season helping both teams he played for reach the final four. Managing experience and fielding prowess will be his biggest contributions.

The Arm - Joe Callaghan.  The man who needs no introduction and whose name itself incites fear in the opponent. Career ERA under 0.40. Oh and he’s a career .440 hitter who hit 8 bombs last season? Enough said.

The Stick - Jason Darby.  Long known as one of the toughest outs in the TBL, Darby had a career year in 2014 with a .516 AVG and several “Heart and Soul” type efforts where he carried the Bears on his back. These qualities along with his managerial experience will be a huge asset to the UK.

The Wild Card - Scott Baker.  A big game player. With an injured wrist he tossed 7 innings of 1 run ball against the champs in the semis. In his last 4 games of 2014 he really came on with the bat and his mere presence behind the bullpen wall is a huge advantage for the squad.

The Boom - Robert Irvine.  Forever a journeyman, Irvine finally put his proverbial flag in the ground in 2014 hitting .554 with 20 XBH and single handedly carrying the Isotopes offense. His new found power stroke is exactly what this team needs with contact hitters like Darby and Scotland ahead of him in the order.

This version of the United Kingdom will be a tough test when clicking on all cylinders. Callaghan and Baker throwing up 0’s, Darby and Scotland spraying hits all over the field and Irvine sending the ball into orbit….On March 21st....The UK will rise again!!!
