From the Feild to the Felt.
The first quarterly TBL poker tourney got underway at the Riverdale Poker Club on Saturday night. There were just 6 entrants but surely that number will balloon when the word spreads.
JOE CALLAHAN, LEON PEREZ,ANDREAS CONSTANTINOU, ROCKY PAREJO, ADRIAN GOLOMBEK and JEROME PERSAUD took to the felt to see who has more than just Burby skills.
In The early going Andreas who in the back of his mind knew he had to leave early took control of the game. Rocky Parejo the crafty Poker vet from Trinidad also collected chips from the other conservative players.
Because of Joe Callahans wizardry on the Burby field many thought he would bring that same mystery to the table. Every hand he was in he carefully calculated the numbers which made his decisions that much more prominent. The one decision he should not have made was attacking the big stack of Golombek and thus he was ousted after an all in.
Andreas indeed left the game but gave all his chips to Leon Perez who he ousted earlier....interesting.....collusion? Perez won some big hands and made it to the final with a big stack.
Jerome Persaud didn't quite have the luck on this night but after getting knocked out he made a hell of a dealer!
Parejo was playing calm and kosher despite having 2 gallons of coffee in his veins. However he got widdled away and conceded to the commish.
So the first final between Golombek and Perez was somewhat anti climatic. 1 hand and it was done. Golombek goes all in with A 6. Perez had KQ. He catches the Queen and his first TBL poker championship!
The next tourney will be in the fall and the league is hoping for a quarterly game every year.
