2014 Same Faces. New Places.
The rumours are true. Behind closed doors, moves are being made. Some for the greater good of the league. Others for the benefit of respective teams. It never fails that come the beginning of a new Burby year, you find change. In a sport that still finds ways to evolve, change is usually good.
Scotland vs Osborne. 2 Old Foes will be seeing alot more of each other
In its short history change in the TBL meant the addition and subtraction of teams and players. From the loss of the Danforth Dodgers and Beaches Blaze to the gain of the Saint Clair Saints and Don Valley Vikings. Although the impact has been great, one constant has always remained. Parody. Equality and a Fair playing field. It's looking like the new moves in 2014 should solidify that mantra.
The Move
Rob Scotland

- the 2013 Manager of the year will retire from the coaching ranks to focus on double duty in both divisions. He will anchor the Warden Warriors in Tier 2. He will also lend a hand to the Birch Cliff Bears in Tier 1.
The Impact
The Warriors only had 3 players last year and Rob should help Ariza'a crew with attendance, hitting, pitching and fielding. This move instantly makes them a contender for the Kings cup. BC certainly has too many players as is, so expect manager Jason Darby to do some juggling in order to make the Bears happy. Rob brings his Burby knowledge and a strong bat to the Far East.
The Move
Darren Osborne

- OZ has decided to also dip into Tier 2 waters. He will focus on helping The Eglinton Isotopes. He will also retain a spot on the Leslieville Brickies roster
The Impact.
Oz could be one of the best hitters in Tier 2. He already instantly is one of the best fielders in That division. The underestimated impact that Oz will have on both the Brickies and the isotopes is his attitude towards the game and his light heartedness. Eglington rose from the ashes at the end of last year and this addition should take them even higher.
The Move
New franchises to be introduced to both divisions. Although nothing is officially confirmed, both Tiers will boast 8 teams.
The Impact
16 teams would mark a record for the TBL. Several squads are on a waiting list but the cap has been set to limit excess play without permits. The new teams being brought in are poised to make a run at The Cup.
This league has a make over every year and 2014 will be no different.
Congrats to the players that have been here for some time and to the rookies about to embark on a magical season.
