Which players are improving as the season winds down.
When it comes to Burby you're really only as good as your last couple of games. Many players are in a flux of inconsistency. But the ones who are stringing together good performances down the stretch are clearly on the leagues watch list.
Here are some ballers who have been hot the last 3 games and are sure to help their crew out in the playoffs.
Marc DiRenzo St.Clair Saints
12-18 .667avg 1 hr 5 rbi's
Up until now Marc D was a player you wanted to get to pitch to in order to pitch around other Saint players. No more. He is making teams pay in a big way with his calm approach and patience at the plate. "After batting below the Burby mendoza line last year I heard it from my teamates all summer and in the off season. So i hit the cages in the winter and worked on my swing. Also Balls that didn't drop for me last year are falling for me "
Let's also not forget his resurgence on the mound as his walk total is down from this time last year. The way Marc D is going, St.clair will be vaulted in the upper echelon of the TBL.
Greg Majster. Roncesvalles Rockets
8-18 .444 AVG 2 HR 9 RBI
Majster used to be the guy who couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Now he is regarded as the hardest hitter in the league with a high average to boot.
Greg says the reason for the turnaround is simple. "Being injury free & being able to focus on Burby a bit more has helped a bit I suppose." He has made Roncesvalles the deadliest squad around, and a team that no one wants to face in the playoffs.
Gino Collura Don Valley Vikings
8-16 .500 AVG 3 HR 7 RBI
3 games into the season the struggling Vikings called upon Collura to right the ship. Gino was apprehensive about committing to the league and playing against stiff competition. If his last 3 games are any indication, he is now a feared hitter on a Viking quest to the post season.
"I had to get the hang of the heat and speed of the fastballs that Leach and Snow and some other pitchers throw. I've been playing burby my whole life too, so its safe to say its my nature."
