Game Summary

Birchmount Burbarians Rally Late to Snatch Victory from the Jaws of Defeat!

The Birchmount Burbarians notched their first win of the season with a big 6th inning rally to defeat the Van Horne Vipers 12-7.

On an exceptionally warm summer Saturday, the Burbarians hosted their old rival Vipers at the Dragon's Den.

Van Horne got off to a fast start scoring three runs in their first ups after a leadoff walk was followed by a couple of singles and a two-run double.

The top of the 2nd was more of the same as the Vipers slithered their way to a 5-0 lead on a deep two-run drive by Justin Daniel.

The hits kept coming for the Vipers from line drives to bloopers as they were in full control offensively, taking a 7-0 lead after three innings.

On the mound, starter Albert Meskawy was in full control, silencing Birchmount bats with his deliberate delivery.

But after Meskawy pitched his five the trouble started in the bottom of the 6th for the visitors. Each new pitcher they cycled in struggled to find the box as Burbarian bats stayed patient, exercising walks at every opportunity while scattering in the odd hit as well.

Down seven in the 6th, the home squad improbably rallied for 12 in the inning to turn the game around.

Closing out the final few frames without giving up a run, the Burbarians locked down pitching and fielding to lock up their first victory on the season.
