Magic vs Bird, Ronaldo vs Messi, Tyson vs Holyfield...Toman vs Meskawy.
These are the names you think of when you think of athletic excellence and rivalries that can captivate the minds eye and leave you breathlessly anticipating the game, the match, the fight...
This game sucked. Toman and Meskawy were your starters for this rematch from 1 week prior. The Dusters were without Kevin O'Brien while Andy D was missing for Van Horne. It was pretty much the opposite of last weeks game where the Duster bats had the ball flying off the bat like it was shot out of a cannon. Both starters enjoyed a hot muggy day where the ball just refused to travel and offense was in short supply.
Fast forward all the way to the 5th inning because I promise you didnt miss anything. Well, Duane Cobham made a sweet running catch almost running all the way to the pitchers mound to backhand snag one. It was 0-0 when Rob Scotland led off the bottom of the 5th with a walk then Dave Atkinson and Toman reached base to load them up for Scotland with 1 out.
After a dramatic at bat which eventually led to a full count walk, the game finally saw its first run and it would turn out to be the only run. The Dusters did actually have 3 fans in attendance but they understandably bowed out early with one even deciding a scraped knee was more fun then watching the sweaty pitchers duel. Scotland and Angelo Nitzis provided clean relief innings to bring the game home and end this snoozer with a 1-0 Dusters final score.
